Alex began as University Registrar in May 2019 and is responsible for the management and direction of the Office of the Registrar. Prior to joining UA, Alex served as the Executive Director of Academic Systems and Student Records for City Colleges of Chicago, the largest community colleges district in Illinois serving over eighty thousand students a year. Alex’s previous roles at City Colleges included District Director of Academic Systems and Registrar of Malcolm X College. He has over 15 years’ experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for academic operations, student records, curriculum management, and enrollment planning. Alex is someone who values the role that technology plays in the development of processes that maximize efficiencies for both students and the wider academic community. He has also served in several roles, including Registrar, at Kendall College in Chicago. He began his professional career as an Academic Advisor and believes this has rooted his life’s work in the student experience.
Systems & Reporting, Interim Room & Course Scheduling
Oversees the Systems & Reporting team, which provides technical support for student record systems within the Office of the Registrar. Systems include On Base, PeopleSoft, Ad Astra and various home-grown solutions related to student records. Reporting includes management of UAnalytics dashboards and reports, National Student Clearinghouse and other reports required for institutional compliance. Currently acting as the interim director of the Room and Course Scheduling office, which manages Schedule of Classes, event scheduling for institutionally scheduled rooms and Course Catalog system processes.

Oversees operation of the Registration and Transcripts Office. Processes all registration forms for students including Change of Schedule (add/drop), 500 Level Petitions, Prop 300 (Verify Lawful Presence), Leave of Absence and Credit By Exam. Provides official and unofficial transcripts to students via walk-in or online. Responsible for interpreting and enforcing academic policy.
Graduation Services, Military-connected Benefits, Grading, and Academic Career Management
Oversees the Graduation Services team which audits and posts all undergraduate degrees and manages diploma orders for all University programs. Also oversees NCAA student-athlete eligibility certification along with Veteran & Military Benefits Certification.
Oversees all aspects of Summer & Winter Sessions including customer service, payroll, refunds, hiring of instructors, admission for non-degree summer only students and evaluations. Works closely with students and academic units.
