Transfer Credit Evaluation

The Transfer Credit Evaluation team is available to help all undergraduate students with domestic and international transfer credit evaluations, pre-approvals, and questions.

If your institution and/or courses do not appear in the Transfer Credit Guide there are several ways to have your credit evaluated:

Domestic Pre-Evaluations

First, check the Transfer Credit Guide to see if your courses have already been evaluated.

If you do not see your institution, please ensure the institution is regionally accredited by searching for the institution with the regionally accredited filter on the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website. If it does not appear on the list, please see our transfer credit policy for non-regionally accredited course work.

If you do not see specific courses listed, please send your unofficial transcripts and a list of those courses (prefixes, numbers, and titles) to articulation@arizona.edu and request an evaluation. An Academic Record Specialist will evaluate your courses for transferability and email you with the results.

International Pre-Evaluations

First, check the Transfer Credit Guide and the Supplemental International Transfer Credit Guide (SITCG)to see if your courses have already been evaluated.

If you do not see specific courses listed, please send your unofficial transcripts (translated into English) and a list of those courses (prefixes, numbers and titles) to intlarticulation@arizona.edu and request an evaluation. An  Academic Record Specialist will evaluate your courses for transferability and email you with the results.

Evaluate Required Course

Receive pre-approval for a future course or approval for a completed course for a specific degree requirement based on your major.

First, check the Transfer Credit Guide to see if your courses have already been evaluated for direct equivalency. If it has not, speak with your advisor to determine if a direct equivalency is necessary.

If you and your advisor decide a direct equivalency is necessary, submit a Course Equivalency Request to have those courses evaluated for an equivalency. A syllabus (not just a course description) is required for evaluation of these courses (submit one form per credit evaluation request).

University of Arizona students may complete one or more-degree requirements with courses from another institution. Advanced planning ensures that transfer courses will apply toward specific requirements in your major, minor, or General Education. Before enrolling for courses elsewhere, especially during your senior year, please be aware of the University Credit Requirement for graduation from the University of Arizona.

Evaluate Math Course

Receive pre-approval for a future Math course or approve a completed Math course. Carefully read through the information and follow the evaluation instructions.

Evaluate Official Transcript

After you complete your courses and receive grades, send your official transcripts for evaluation:

Once received, courses are evaluated with respect to the University of Arizona's policy on the acceptability of transfer credit by the Transfer Credit Evaluation Team. During this evaluation, an Academic Record Specialist determines which courses are accepted and posts these credits to your academic record.

After credits are posted to your record, review your Transfer Credit Report and meet with yourAcademic Advisor to find out how your transfer courses apply to your degree requirements.

The University of Arizona operates on a semester calendar. Credits will transfer with equal units from other semester institutions. Quarter units will be multiplied by 2/3 to equate to semester units. Example: 4 unit course from a quarter system = 2.68 semester credit units.

If you transfer additional credits to the University, the above transfer evaluation process is repeated. Keep in mind that the applicability of these courses may be subject to change if you change your program of study.

Transfer Credit Appeal

Meet with your academic advisor and review your Transfer Credit Report. If your advisor wishes to use a rejected course towards your degree plan, they can submit an appeal by sending an email titled "Transfer Credit Appeal" with the following information:

  • Course prefix, number, title

  • Name of the school where the course was taken in addition to the course syllabi

Send transfer credit appeals to:

A member of our staff will get back to you with the outcome of your appeal.
