Calendar of Religious Holidays 2025-2026

The calendar below includes holidays, traditional observances, and major religious days celebrated by our diverse university community of faculty, staff, and students. The University of Arizona will remain open on most of the religious holidays listed below. See the General Catalog's Academic Calendar for university-wide holidays and closures.
This calendar is compiled by the Office of the Registrar in coordination with the University Religious Council and campus partners and is designed to aid faculty and staff in academic planning during the term. This list is not meant to be exhaustive of all holidays or observances, nor active religious communities on campus.
If you have any questions or comments, or wish to suggest adding a religious observance, please contact registrar@arizona.edu
To request religious accommodations, please review the religious accommodation policy.

Native American Traditional and Cultural Ceremonies should be given the same consideration as the religious observances listed below.

Note: When an observance has more than one date (such as with the ‡Jewish holidays), the observance commences at sunset, or in the evening, of the start date, and ends at sunset, or in the evening, of the end date.

* Islamic dates are approximate. The official days can be plus/minus one day and depend upon the official physical sighting of the new moon. This can be confirmed at the time by calling the Islamic Center at 520-624-3233.

** Buddhist: Two aspects to take into account with Buddhist festivals.  Most, with the exception of the Japanese, use the lunar calendar, and the dates of festivals vary from country to country and between Buddhist traditions.

^ Hindu holidays are approximate. The official days can be plus/minus one day and are based on the lunar calendar.

Shabbat, Jewish Sabbath: Every week from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. (Also observed by several Christian denominations, the largest being 7th Day Adventists)

Note: Bahá'is holidays begin at sunset on the day preceding the given date. There are also 19 days of fasting (Mar 1-19, 2025). Work is not forbidden, but because of fasting, exams may be easier to take in the morning or evening.
