Verification of Degrees, Past Attendance and Enrollment

(Effective May 23, 2001)

In order to provide a more efficient and cost-effective verification process, the University of Arizona has entered a formal agency agreement with Credentials Inc. of Northfield, Illinois to perform written verifications of degrees and past attendance inquiries. Acting as our agent, Credentials Inc. should be considered as a primary source provider. The services provided by Credentials Inc. will be in full compliance with all applicable privacy laws and, in particular, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

Credentials' Degreechk.com is intended to provide Third Parties with a single easy-to-access source for verifying degrees and past attendance from major colleges and institutions across the country. If you would like to perform a degree verification or confirm past attendance of a student, please contact Credentials Inc. at www.degreechk.com. Degreechk.com offers internet access around the clock, 365 days every year. Telephone operators are available to assist callers at 1-800-646-1858 between 8:30 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. (Central Standard Time).

The Office of the Registrar will continue to process requests for individual enrollment verifications and service the National Student Clearinghouse (for Lenders, Guarantors, and Servicers). Enrollment verifications should be directed to:

When to use Degreechk.com and when to use the Office of the Registrar for degree, attendance and enrollment verifications.

Use Degreechk.com for Degree & Past Attendance if:

  1. You want to confirm that a degree was actually conferred on an individual.
  2. You want to confirm that an individual attended a particular school ("from" and "to" range of dates only)

  3. You want to find out about all of the degrees an individual has earned, including majors, minors, and honors.

Degree Verifications are typically used:

  • By employers or background screening firms to verify resume information
  • By graduate school admissions offices to verify undergraduate information
  • To substantiate educational achievement when trying to obtain special work visas
  • To re-verify the credentials of company officers in corporate mergers
  • To prove eligibility for "recent college graduate" promotions

 

Use the Office of the Registrar for Enrollment Verifications of Current Students if:

  1. You are trying to verify the enrollment status of a current student (e.g. full-time, part-time, etc.)
  2. You want to verify the Grade Point Average (GPA) of a currently enrolled student. (Requires written authorization from the student)
  3. You are inquiring about prior enrollment status or attendance dates

Current Enrollment Verification is typically used:

  • By parents needing to prove that their 19-year-old+ children are enrolled full-time in a college or university so as to maintain their eligibility for medical insurance coverage
  • By credit card issuers who want to check that the people receiving college credit card promotional offers are in fact enrolled in school
  • By non-U.S. students who must have regular confirmation of enrollment sent to their embassy or consulate
  • By parents wanting to obtain "Good Student Driver" discounts for their children
  • By students wanting course completion and final grade reporting to employers for tuition re-imbursement
